I was introduced to the guys at DaybookPro in May 2018. This was due to a difficult period with our incumbent Transport Management System (TMS) supplier who was unable, or unwilling, to develop their platform to meet our demands of our business as we went through a rapid period of growth with the need for additional functionality. I met with the team on several occasions who demonstrated DaybookPro to me with great enthusiasm and I could tell immediately that what existed within it was much closer to my needs already – without the requirement for a lot of development unlike my existing TMS.
I didn’t hesitate to sign up and began the process of migration from one platform to another (a daunting task!). This took several months to ensure everything was as it needed to be in order to go live on our selected day in October – support was there 24/7 with assistance on how to find various functions during the set-up months but also allowing us to tweak bits here and there to improve the functionality for our business. Once we did go live there were of course some nerves and challenges as staff got used to a different platform however the system is very intuitive so go-live could not have gone better. Whenever urgent changes were required the support team were on hand 24/7 to assist or give direction.
Since then we have made changes or improvements to save costly man hours – the main ones being data entry and hand written aspects that have been eliminated by automated printing from DaybookPro. Increased integration with our customers using “EDI” links so that their job bookings come straight into DaybookPro and likewise the customer receives job status updates back – all without any need for human input. These are just a couple of instances where processes have improved saving us time and money but also allowing us to do what we do best – organise transport for customers!
We will be soon moving to a new premises and operating our own warehouse and I have grand plans of utilising DaybookPro for management of this as well as our transport operation – all of which I know will be delivered with great success and in a timely manner – this cannot always be said for suppliers of services!
DaybookPro has provided us with a one stop shop from job booking all the way through to invoicing. I would highly recommend DaybookPro to any logistical company that are looking to go to the next level. Not only do you get a great platform but you get a team of IT experts who have a great understanding of the logistics industry having been involved with it for 40 years or so. They invest themselves in your business and feel like part of your day to day team which is highly unusual for 3rd party supplier.
Joel McCormack, Managing Director of Front Runner Logistics, first spoke with the DaybookPro team in May 2018. His previous transport management system supplier had struggled to keep pace with the business as it grew quickly, unable or unwilling to build the extra functionality Front Runner needed. After a few demonstrations, McCormack felt DaybookPro was already much closer to what his business needed, without the lengthy development his existing system would have required.
Migrating from the old platform took several months of preparation ahead of a planned October go-live, with support on hand around the clock to help the team learn the system and fine-tune it along the way. Despite the inevitable nerves of switching platforms, go-live went smoothly thanks to how intuitive the system felt to new users, and the support team stayed available for any urgent changes once live.
Since then, Front Runner has cut out manual paperwork and hand-written processes through DaybookPro’s automated printing, and expanded its use of EDI links so that customer job bookings and status updates now flow automatically in both directions, without anyone needing to key anything in by hand. McCormack credits the platform with giving the business a genuine one-stop shop, from booking through to invoicing, and says it has played a real part in the company’s rapid growth since making the switch.
Front Runner is now planning to bring a new warehouse operation onto DaybookPro as well, alongside its existing transport business.
